This is The Little Canopy’s signature handmade paper flower wedding backdrop!  It’s 9 feet wide by 18 feet tall, and it has about 600 handmade paper flowers on a fabric.  The variety of flower shapes and sizes gives it much depth and texture, and the lighting that’s shooting from below and above give its dramatic finish.  It took about 4-6 weeks to make since I only had after 5pm and the weekend to work on, and probably about 20 bags of hot glue sticks.  You can find it in my etsy shop.  Unfortunately since it’s so big I don’t have a shipping method for this, so it’ll have to be picked up in Atlanta, or you can buy the DIY listing where I ship out the flowers + fabric and you have to glue them yourself.  Anyways I thought I’d dedicate this post to brides who would like to make themselves a handmade paper flower backdrop and find some useful tutorials.  A lot of it is improvising, cutting petals in different shapes using the tutorials below, and just lots and lots of gluing!  If you have paper scrap left over, cut it into a leaf shape and glue it at the bottom too.

I love the flower wall idea. I just have one question. How do you transport without creasing or mashing the flower. In the picture they look in excellent shape.
Thanks

Hi Belinda!

I had it hanging in my house until the day before the wedding so that it doesn’t get damaged.
Then I carefully had my team roll it up like a burrito and carry it into the van! I was so worried that it’ll get smashed, but the roses were pretty strong and compact. As long as you roll it up loosely, and you don’t keep it rolled up for too long, it’ll be in excellent condition!

Hi Chloe,

Can you tell me how you mount the paper flowers?

Hi Dana!

I used hot glue gun to attach all the paper flowers to the fabric backdrop.

Such a great idea. Do you rent out the panel or only sell it?

At the moment we’re only selling it, but am currently researching on renting it out. Are you in Atlanta?
Please contact me at chloe@thelittlecanopy.com with details to your event, and we’ll work something out!

Thank you

Hi there
I’ve just been looking at my blog stats and noticed quite a few visits from you… Thanks for you link to my paper roses tutorial – it’s nice that you gave credit.

I must however, congratulate you on that FABULOUS backdrop of paper flowers. How very stylish, designer looking but oh, how effective. Love it! Hope you are able to figure out a way to rent it out – have you considered contacting a wedding planner or even a venue where they hold weddings – they could even be interested in purchasing… just a couple of suggestions anyway. Best of luck!

What type of fabric did you use?

11 TLC | 02.27.14 at 1:40 pm |

Hi Robin!
I just used the cheapest white fabric I could find at the fabric store. Not too thin so that it can hold quite a bit of weight, but not too thick to add more weight. 🙂
